2016-03-02 - Craft Area Rules & Application Forms Posted
Contributed by Debi Huffman

For anyone, who is interested in having a craft booth on Front Street (Historical Society), in Pirate Park (Grand Rapids Youth Baseball & Softball), or in Labino Park (Cub Scout Pack #325), the rules and application forms for each area are now available on the website. Each area has its own rules, forms, deadlines, and contact information.  And, new this year, we are offering crafters the opportunity to place a business card size ad on our Applebutter Fest website.  This will give visitors an idea of the types of crafts that will be available at Applebutter Fest. And, for those of you, who contact us after Applebutter Fest to get contact information for one of the crafters, you'll now have a place to look for this information.  Check it out here!

2016-02-21 - New Applebutter Website Launched
Contributed by Debi Huffman

The all-volunteer Applebutter Fest chairpersons are actively working on the plans that are essential to a successful Applebutter Fest experience for the thousands of residents and visitors to this "Always the 2nd Sunday in October" event.  To kick off this 40th year, we have launched a new website.  Check it out here and come back often, as we work to expand the content and incorporate information specific to the 2016 Fest on October 9th.  We've added lots of pictures to the site.  Perhaps you'll see yourself enjoying activities at a recent Applebutter Fest!

September 2015 - It is Appealing to Peel

Every year the big draw for the Applebutter Festival  is the apple butter being stirred in the Village Park and sold.  Little secret not all the apple butter sold that day is made that day.  Starting a week or two ahead of time apples are peeled, cooked into apple butter, and canned.  It takes many hands to do all of this work and you too can be a part of this. The first peeling is on September 24 starting at 7:30 a.m. in the Old Fire Station on Front Street.  There will be a potluck lunch, so bring your favorite peeling knife and a covered dish.  On September 26 starting at 9 a.m. will be the big stir (meaning making apple butter over an open fire).  There will be a potluck lunch at noon.  Dress appropriately and have a fun day helping to make the first batch of apple butter.  Then on October 8 at 7:30 a.m. will be the final peeling at the Old Fire Station. If you need more information call Chuck Thomas at 419-265-7936.
