Dave Westrick
Picture
Dave Westrick fell in love with Ohio history growing on a farm in Northwest, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio University with a degree in journalism. After a career in journalism and communication he turned his attention to research, specializing in the early frontier era.  He has written and lectured extensively on the Battle of Fallen Timbers. Dave serves on the boards of several history groups including the Maumee Valley Historical Society and is a former president of the Fallen Timbers Battlefield Preservation Committee.  He is the author of "The Battle of Fallen Timbers, A Change of Worlds". He lives with his wife Nanci in Perrysburg, Ohio.  

Dr. Bruce Way

Bruce Way is retired from the departments of History and World Languages at the University of Toledo, where his teaching responsibilities included 19th Century U.S. history and French.  He held administrative positions at Monroe County Community College and Owens Community College and also taught at Tiffin University and Bowling Green State University.  He has worked at The Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village and in Public Radio.  His War of 1812 interests come from both the classroom and a long stretch of volunteering at River Raisin National Battlefield Park in Monroe.  He and his wife, Jacki, live in Toledo.

Dr. Adam Thomas

Adam Thomas is Executive Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions. His teaching and research are concerned with the history of political philosophy and American political thought. In particular, he studies the foundations of law, justice, and constitutionalism in Cicero, Augustine, and Thomas Aquinas. From 2019-2024, Thomas was Associate Director of the Lyceum Program at Clemson University. He previously held appointments as Postdoctoral Research Associate in the James Madison Program at Princeton and T. W. Smith Postdoctoral Fellow in Western and American Political Thought in the Tocqueville Program at Furman University. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Boston College and his B.A. from Furman University.

Dr. Josh Steedman

Dr. Josh Steedman specializes in early American history. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Toledo, where he studied multinational interactions in the nineteenth-century Great Lakes region. A faculty member at Defiance College, he draws on extensive experience in K–12 education. Beyond academia, he enjoys illustration and music, and lives in Waterville with his wife and their two pets, Bernie and Lucy.

Peter Wilhelm

A Henry County native and fifth-generation German descendant, Peter Wilhlem holds both a BS in History & German and an MA in Archival & Local History from Bowling Green State University. His published thesis, The Draining of the Black Swamp, explores the transformation of Northwest Ohio. He taught U.S. History and Cultural Geography at Northwest State Community College (2006–2012) and has co-developed national conferences on Indian Removal. He continues to research and publish local history.
